🎙️ More About Lucky “The Genius” Bokaba
From Humble Beginnings to Champion
Lucky grew up in a rural village (Dikebu, North West) where life was far from easy. He endured bullying growing up, but instead of letting it define him, he channeled that pain into something greater. Boxing became his outlet.
- He took up boxing as an amateur in 2009, and went professional in 2015, fueled by the encouragement of his community.
- In September 2023, he won the African Boxing Union (ABU) SADC junior lightweight title with a knockout in the ninth round, showing not just strength, but strategy and smarts.
A Relentless Fighter — Inside & Outside the Ring
- Lucky has shared that boxing life has given him discipline, purpose, and the confidence to defend himself — literally. There was a time he defended his phone from attackers, knocking someone out in self-defense.
- But he’s much more than just a fighter: when he’s not prepping for a bout, he gives back. He works as a coach at the CIT Performance Institute in Pretoria, mentoring younger boxers and helping them navigate the sport.
- His passion for teaching comes from more than just technique — he believes in boxing’s power to change lives, to build discipline, to offer a path away from the streets.
Big Ambitions
Lucky isn’t satisfied with local success. He has big dreams:
- He wants to compete for international titles and even names fighters like O’Shauquie Foster as inspirations.
- For him, boxing is more than a career — it’s a vehicle to uplift others and prove that where you come from doesn’t limit where you can go.

The nickname “The Genius” isn’t just for show. It reflects:
